Civics
Civics (Seiler)
Info:
1 Semester (0.5 credits)
A required course for graduation.
The information taught involves the history, contents, and philosophy of the United States Constitution as well as knowledge regarding the structure of the U.S. Federal government. Students are also prepared to pass the Illinois State Constitution Test.
Overview:
Class is taught in presentation and lecture format by Mr. Seiler.
Students are required to fill in their provided note sheets with missing information.
All but a few homework assignments are expected and required to be finished before the end of the school day (3:30 PM) on which they are assigned.
Tests every unit and quizzes are more often.
Links to homework assignments and his resources will all be on his canvas page. You can also ask him for a copy of the slides but you should have what is needed for the test/quiz in your notes.
Tips:
Mr. Seiler may be lenient for the first few days, but (as far as I know, this policy hasn't changed) after the class gets into motion, his policy is to have homework due before the school day ends.
Late homework is a 0% so don't let one assignment have you struggling with your grade (there aren't many assignments).
Don't underestimate the quizzes/tests. The smallest detail on your note packet may save your grade.
If he takes the class out on "jaunts" (walks) enjoy it because not many other teachers do this.
